Instrument & Controls Technician

3 month contract to possible hire

Atlanta, GA 30320

6am - 2pm


This position is responsible for the identification, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial and commercial instrumentation and control systems. The incumbent has expert knowledge of procedures and technical concepts within own area, and applies expert knowledge of regulations and standards to assignments. He/she evaluates complex situations using multiple, varied sources of information and interprets information to develop solutions. This role shares technical expertise with others and provides guidance and support. The incumbent mentors new team members in technical area. This position completes advanced technical assignments that require creativity and judgment.


  • Duties include building, modifying, testing, troubleshooting, or repairing equipment or systems of considerable complexity.

  • Exercises a significant amount of independent action, seeking advice from other technicians or engineers where deviations from the norm occur and where advanced levels of creativity are needed.

  • Performs tasks associated with operations and maintenance of VAV and fan-coil boxes; identifies and operates controls such as EP and PE switches and transducers, control relays, power supplies, temperature transmitters, RTDs, photo eyes, VSRs, proximity switches.

  • Responsible for backing-up computer databases such as Metasys and security systems; has the ability to complete fire impairments and perform panel shutdowns to Simplex systems.

  • Conducts intermediate operation and minor troubleshooting of computer and communication equipment.

  • Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for areas of responsibility.

  • Trains personnel on preventative maintenance in areas of responsibility; understands preventative maintenance software and Metasys databases.


  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience.

  • 7 - 10 years of experience preferred.
