Job Description


On a mission to rapidly introduce and evolve common, internally consumed capabilities that are the foundation for product and service offerings globally. The position will be responsible for the design and implementation of large scale and complex WMQ deployments. As a group, we have a Lean-Agile focus on delivering the right solutions to internal customers with the highest quality in the shortest lead times.

The ideal candidate will be required to maintain and support a large number of medium to enterprise scale messaging configurations according to existing procedures utilizing in-house built and industry standard tools. This is a senior technical hands-on position responsible for designing, defining standards and driving innovation for enterprise-level integration platforms, and includes research and development of new technologies and best practices, implementation of complex and comprehensive solutions for enterprise WMQ messaging flows. The Integration Engineer is expected to remain current on current and emerging technologies, drive continuous operational improvement and promote new technology solutions. A high level of flexibility, adaptability, and innovation must be demonstrated.


Executes and provides feedback on operational policies, procedure, processes, and standards.

Provides subject matter expertise in cross-functional strategic and tactical efforts.

Provides subject matter expertise and leadership in triage for escalated production incidents.

Partners with key vendor providers to escalate and troubleshoot severity issues.

Assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery.

Propose, design, and implement enhancements and additions to the current environment

Partner with requestors to execute tasks provided via agile request portal (CA Rally) for service delivery.

Drive collaboration with developers, architects, and peer engineers in order to understand functional needs, implement appropriate solutions and define the future roadmap of integration technologies.

Conduct analysis and provide suggestions to improve the delivery of services by the team.

Execute and improve vulnerability and resiliency management strategies which include patching, reboots, infrastructure testing and other proactive maintenance tasks.

Author and maintain system technical design documentation including the use of diagrams and translations of user requirements to technical functions.

Engage software development staff to design and troubleshoot applications in an enterprise environment.

Design and implementation of Websphere MQ automation

Conducts peer review analysis and acceptance of new or modified processes to ensure sustainability and repeatability.

Perform implementation, maintenance, remediation, and troubleshooting services for middleware MQSeries systems

Analyzes and executes configuration and audit strategies to assist in ensuring compliance with standard settings and security direction

Provides delivery services as working member of a core project team delivering business projects.

Collaborate with application owners to install, configure and deliver third-party product installations.

Executes the delivery of standard platform builds.

Drive continuous improvement of the platform and services by proposing, designing, and implementing enhancements and additions to the current environment

Lead problem resolution, efficiency improvement, and automation efforts.

Track & Escalate impediments to address critical bottlenecks


Several years of hands-on WebSphere MQ Administration experience (v7 & above) on UNIX / AIX platforms.

Strong technical skills in MQ & Broker series administration.

Experienced in Message broker administration. Maintaining MQ and message broker infrastructure on AIX servers.

Excellent skills and a strong understanding of MQ clustering concepts.

Strong understanding of IBM MQ Series, including development

Excellent analytical skills and troubleshooting techniques, as well as system and performance tuning skills.

Good experience in setting up MQ clustering, Point to Point setup and server connections among applications.

Experienced in setting up MQ traces and Message broker traces at message flow level in debugging the issues.

Experience in Shell scripting (bash,ksh) to automate administration batch jobs including backing up WebSphere MQ/MB components

Deploying message flows/defining MQ setup in Test(E1) and Quality(E2) environments.

DevOps skills (Jenkins, Chef, Puppet etc)" to help orchestrate and automates the deployment of applications, MQ configurations, and database changes into stage, test, and production environment

Experience in the IBM PMR problem determination and troubleshooting process.

Experience with IBM Mainframe, z/OS a plus.

Experience with product & Fixpack installations and version upgrades of WebSphere MQ.

Should be strong in using MQSC and PCF commands, Distributed Queue Management, MQ channel configuration using different transmission protocols.

Should be able to manage, configure and monitor MQ Listeners, Command Servers, Channel initiators, Trigger Monitors, MQ Log files & Dead Letter Queues.

Should be strong with MQ Client applications & MQ client configuration.

Able to set up security for WebSphere MQ queues & other objects for data access and for administration using role-based security.

Proficient in TLS Configuration on WebSphere MQ.

Programming experience with MQ API's - JMS, C/C++/C#/Java - is a plus.

Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision.

Understanding of security and risk, especially as it relates to patch and configuration management, logging, alerting and monitoring.

Extensive troubleshooting, triage, root cause analysis and performance monitoring skills.

Experience with ITIL and/or other similar frameworks.

Possesses strong communication skills -- both verbal and written - and strong relationship, collaborative skills, and organizational skills

BS/BE in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience

Experience with Linux and enterprise-grade Open Source Software

Familiarity with Performance Testing

Awareness in security implementations such as X.509 Certificates, SSH Keys, PGP encryption

Understanding of network protocols such as TCP, SSL, HTTPS, and SFTP
