Pay Rate $27.00 - $30.00 /hr

This position is responsible for on-site (field) management of street maintenance activities in accordance with the requirements of the contract between clients, and in accordance with quality, safety, and cost control standards. The incumbent has a thorough knowledge of these activities and other disciplines, and understands how the activities integrate with and impact other areas of work. This position will assess service requests, determine required work activities and perform field inspections of completed work for quality control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Field Services Manager in the initiation, completion and quality control of street maintenance and repair activities including street pavement repairs, crack sealing, patching, curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement, traffic striping and marking, litter pickup along rights-of-way, right-of-way mowing, and snow/ice control
  • Provides information for work order preparation such as location, scope of work, limits of work, material estimates and job duration
  • Reviews schedules and methods for providing street and traffic maintenance services
  • Inspects and evaluates work in progress to ensure repairs, maintenance, and project activities are performed in accordance with city standards and specifications, as applicable
  • Monitor work sites to ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
  • Maintain a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, and regulations
  • Performs after-hours on-call responsibilities for the division by being on-call for a monthly period, as scheduled by the Field Services Manager
  • Communicates effectively with management, employees, other departments, the public and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum two (2) years field experience in construction, heavy equipment operation, road construction or road maintenance, including knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, and the ability to operate other standard office equipment
  • Ability to acquire proficiency level in the Workflow Management System as necessary to perform responsibilities
  • Ability to read blue prints, surveys and job specifications
  • Strong inter-personal relationship skills
  • Must possess a valid State driver's license
