Senior UX Specialist

Primary Location: MO-St. Louis

Contract Type Contract Only

Estimated Length of Contract Period 12 months

We are looking for a user-experience (UX) designer able to understand our business requirements and any technical limitations, as well as be responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes. The UX designer will also be expected to design the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing.


  • Work at the enterprise level to develop design goals and usability methods that improve overall user experience of Java based web applications.

  • Proposes standards, methodologies, and processes for delivery of usability services.

  • Demonstrates understanding of end user needs and goals, and identifies user requirements to shape, prioritize and optimize the end user experience.

  • Defines pre and post-launch qualitative and quantitative validation testing to determine whether features and projects have met business and usability objectives.

  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.

  • Utilize user-centered design methodologies in order to evaluate, recommend, design and implement solutions that optimize the end-to-end workforce experience.

  • Facilitate the client's product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping end user experiences.

  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.

  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.

  • Collaboratively works with management to incorporate usability activities into master delivery schedule.

  • Leverages qualitative and quantitative user data and trends to identify opportunities and guide user-centered design strategies.

  • Partners with business and product teams to identify key experience metrics to baseline, monitor and measure.

  • Advances user-centered design practices, tools and processes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Is a user advocate in process improvement and long term technical solution discussions. Presents outcomes in written and verbal format to management and stakeholders.


  • Three or more years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for large web applications.

  • Proficient at leading and executing all aspects of running a usability study including defining goals, usability objectives, developing test plans and scripts.

  • Proficient at gathering, analyzing, and documenting user-centered information through personas, heuristic reviews, field studies, user interviews, focus groups, usability testing, customer feedback, surveys or other data capture and analysis. Directly communicates information into prioritized and actionable design requirements to influence product direction.

  • Proficient at raising usability and accessibility issues that arise during the product development lifecycle and effectively contributes to mitigating activities.

  • Proficient at creating estimates, work breakdown structures and resource assignments on usability engagements.

  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.

  • Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.

  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.

  • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.

  • A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.

  • Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.

  • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
