Service Specialist - Tax

Position Summary

The Tax Hotline and Cost Basis Service in the Client Tax Reporting area is seeking highly enthusiastic individuals to join their team. Duties include working with branch teams and clients to provide assistance with the Organizations tax forms and answering complex and non-routine calls and/or written correspondence regarding procedural, operational and transaction status information. If you would enjoy working closely with Financial Advisors and branch associates developing solutions for our clients, this may be an ideal opportunity for you.

  • Individuals will be expected to take 30-50 calls daily, dependent on the length of the calls

    • This is a phone based position. Candidates must be comfortable with being on the phone a majority of the day.

  • Consistently deliver World Class Service to our branch associates and other departments

  • Understand and support branch team and client needs regarding tax and/or cost basis; however, this is NOT a tax preparation position

  • Ability to respond to written correspondence in a clear, succinct manner using correct grammar, spelling and format


  • The training hours will be 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Post-training hours will be a shift between 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

    • Attendance - candidates must be present for training. Please do not submit candidates that have scheduling conflicts during the training time period. In addition, attendance/punctuality is imperative throughout the entire duration of the assignment.

  • The 12-14 day training is designed for the individual with no previous experience

    • As a reminder, the training is virtual so the candidate must be self-driven, technologically sound and driven to succeed

  • A structured academic training program must be successfully completed to continue in the program. This includes virtual recorded modules, interactive discussions, hands on activities and a series of assessments at key points during the training. Assessments must be at an acceptable score/level to continue in the program. All available resources can be utilized when taking the assessments. Do you have any concerns regarding this expectation?

  • Once training is complete, there is mentoring and support throughout the duration of the assignment


  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and team oriented environment

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving skills are essential

  • Must have the ability to apply broad knowledge and experience to understand root causes and formulate solutions and provide an unscripted response in a clear and concise conversational manner

  • Ability to research multiple systems, analyze and make conclusions based on facts and determine solutions

  • Ability to connect with the audience by utilizing a proper balance of voice inflection, empathy and professional demeanor while assessing the audience's knowledge

  • Must take ownership of problems and ensure coordination with other individuals as needed to see issue through resolution

  • Must be technologically savvy (will be working in multiple systems simultaneously and training will be virtual)
