Sr Data Analytics Analyst

Opportunity Overview


Firm Analytics (FAN) is seeking project leadership services with expertise in BI development to support the database & MicroStrategy development lifecycle for multiple BI release projects related to the Interactive Region Key Measures report. We expect the project leader to create & follow a lifecycle methodology aligned to industry standards and company best practices for BI development projects. There will also be a need to coordinate with IS project leadership to ensure that we follow IS standards, technologies and lifecycle's where applicable. This work will be performed as a part of the Region Information Management System project and will have a high degree of visibility and urgency within a functional area and spans multiple divisions. One of the projects is in flight, currently in business requirements gathering and prototype design phase. We expect the PL to gain control of the project as we move into technical execution.

Expected Schedule & Travel

  • On site: Monday - Thursday during normal business hours, optional Friday remote

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Identifying and controlling detailed project tasks, dependencies, critical path, contentions, risks and resources across multiple sub-projects

  • Eliciting system roadmap and/or complex requirements and creating estimates with an appropriate understanding of risks.

  • Ensuring project cost, schedule, scope and quality objectives across projects are developed and met by monitoring, using metrics and controls to measure progress, taking corrective action and escalating issues when necessary.

  • Assessing trade-offs to scope using cost / benefit analysis and make recommendations to senior leaders.

  • Allocating, onboarding, assigning, and oversight of resources, project and technical leaders to achieve project objectives.

  • Planning, identifying, analyzing, monitoring and resolving project issues and risks. Identifying mitigation strategies and communicating with project stakeholders.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective communications and relationships across multiple areas, divisions, outside vendors and project leaders/teams who are working on sub-projects within a project or program (including IS UX, IS development teams, business stakeholders, and internal analytic teams). Providing timely communication of relevant data to senior leadership for decision making.

  • Leading the development and execution of a complex, integrated testing strategy.

  • Managing multiple-cycles technology migration from development through production environments, and transitioning Transitions product to support area.

  • Assisting or taking responsibility for troubled projects, rapidly assessing the state of the project, recommending and implementing solutions to get the project back on track.

Expected Deliverables

  1. We expect the project leader to document a lifecycle methodology for BI development project aligned to industry standards and company best practices.

  2. We expect the project leader to lead and manage the execution of the following deliverables to be produced by project resources:

Functional & Technical Requirements

  • MSTR semantic layer development

  • MSTR report/dashboard development

  • Database & ETL development

  • MSTR administration/security

  • User Acceptance & regression testing

  • User training

  • Lifecycle migration

  • Data Quality Management processes

  • Metadata documentation

Position Requirements

  • Project management certification

  • 5+ years of experience leading projects with a high level of complexity/integration that includes other projects and project leaders.

  • 5+ years of IT experience on BI and/or database development projects

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle and MicroStrategy tools

  • In-depth knowledge of financial industry and/or technical processes, systems and risks

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills - Must be able to effectively communicate with the project team, other project leaders, multiple areas, divisions and outside vendors. Also must incorporate effective listening and collaboration skills.
